A partir d’une chute de travail vidéo, un plan d’Alice en couleur, nous la suivons dans ses errances : des dessins en papier à la chute dans le monde souterrain, jusqu’au retour au réel. De l’autre côté du miroir.

AVERTISSEMENT – RISQUES D’EPILEPSIE lié au contenu visuel de la performance.
Polybius explore la relation entre fiction et réalité et crée un sentiment de perte de sens.
Le concept est dérivé du mythe de jeux d’arcade des années 1980 : Polybius est créé pour engendrer une privation sensorielle et cognitive.
En combinant ligne vectorielle, vidéo en temps réel et du son 8 bit, cette performance cherche à générer de nouvelles connections (apophenia) et à provoquer une sensation d’amnésie et de panique.
Création au MAKI 2009.
Ce projet sera joué au festival Cimatics le 26 novembre 2009.

The Polybius experience – Sinneslöschen (German for “sense deleting”)
A project by raquel meyers in collaboration with goto80.
The purpose of Polybius is to explore the relationship between fiction and reality by creating a feeling of losing your senses. The concept is derived from the myth about the 1980s arcade game Polybius which was said to create a sensory and cognitive deprivation in the player. By combining a mathematical styled, video manipulation and 8-bit technology we wish to create feelings of apophenia, amnesia and panic.

Jonathan Pons aka Emotype lives and works in Paris.
He could be qualified as an interdisciplinary musician who uses all the esthetics and technical means he finds in order to create personal and introspective music. He’s been studying the piano for 10 years at the Conservatory. By the end of the 80’s he’s headed for metal rock noisy music. He was part of many bands playing guitar, percussions, singing etc. The discovery of digital means of production gave a new lease of life to his musical world. He attends movie and sound making classes in order to improve his esthetics and cultural knowledge and his technical skills which are essential in the area of images and sounds. Nowadays he elaborates sampling and synthesis tools via the commercial software Reaktor in order to get sounds and interfaces that he can’t get from ususal hardware elements.
He creates small «modulated» elements, able to generate random music that he uses in total impro during an entrancing and somatizing flow. He meets the Homemade collective in 2008.
About the residency:
Auderoseselavy is a kind of hyperactive person so she planned to developp 3 project during those 3 weeks, might be to ambisous but lets see…
the first one to finish is cube d’ombre, witch has been started one year ago at the residency les pixels transversaux, video live, dance, costume, shadow game, here is a video of the first schetch, the idear is to develop in better, in termes of interactions…

Mécanique des fluides
The physical theory of the fluid mechanics is the study of the behavior of the internal strength associated to fluids, it is from this physical theory that this video work proposes a metaphoric audio visual performance.
Taking as point of departure the inverted fall of liquids, creating
a poetic journey about the relation of the body to various liquid elements, shadows and objects…Through a narrative weft punctuated of fragments of words spread into a floating narration.
This project is a performed with video, acoustic and electronic live instruments. In a dreamy soundscape two alto, some machines and noises, try to illustrate the unbearable lightness of the body confronted to its own finitude.

André Fèvre, born in Nantes in 1977.
This handyman of sound for 10 years is a self-taught persone of MAO. He starts to compose electro style music with transformed audio samplings. Then, during his audio and visual classes, he makes a short movie and composes the music which mostly sounds like noises.
In march 2003 he works for the IMEB studios and participates to the electro-acoustic music class of Roger Conchini in order to pass a sound arts degree.
This last experience definitively orientates André towards the « noise world ».
Hired by Dubbing Brothers as a sound effects engineer, he keeps on creating noises and explores the sound effects’world in the movie « 8’12, static apnea record ». ». In the same time, he participates to the creation of the sound part of Presence (interactive installation made by Lino Tonelotto) and organizes concerts of innovative and emerging music in Nantes with the Yamoy association.
By the end, André joins the Homemade collective in 2007 making sound effects in live for Drop Crossing.

Domitille Sanyas, born in June 1981. She starts playing the cello in la Rochelle and then joins the CNR of Poitiers.She discovers impro with Vincent Courtois and opens her musical language to the worlds of images, dance and theatre.
In 2008 she passes her musical degree at the Conservatoire of Créteil and joines the CFMI of Orsay. She’s currently carrying on researches while being a music and cello teacher. She also takes part to several musical interdisciplinary groups including the Homemade collective.

Lucile Trouttet first starts with music before beeing initiated to dance . When she was 15 years old she was doing ballet, contemporary and jazz dance. In april 2003 she auditions for the Alvin Ailey school (New-York) where she’ll be admitted in september. She passed the Alvin Ailey School Certificate of Dance after 3 years of classes. In 2004 she joins the Fred Benjamin Dance Company with which she’ll perform until december 2006. She has the opportunity to work with various american choreographers such as Nathan Trice, Milton Myers and Francesca Harper. She also has the opportunity to work as a teacher in Brooklyn.
Back in France, Lucile joins several companies (contemporary and jazz) and keeps on teaching, particularly at the Amercian Academy of Dance of Paris.
Her meeting and her work made with the Homemade collective entitles her to develop a completely different aspect of dancing she is willing to go deeper into.

JUNK FOOD / THOMAS (DJ : Electro-Techno-New Wave / VJ)
Like every little boy, he used to dismantle every electronic device emitting a sound. Besides, some of them are still waiting to be winded up… Then, as he was an only son, he made a lot of interviews of himself using many cassette recorders and created shaggy-dog reports. He explored his parents’jazz vinyls of the 60’s but he soon prefered New beat and Acid House music which invaded Europe. Fate decreed that he would run after the utopian perfect playlist : from italian sound effect engineer to the Residents, from Kraftwerk to LCD soundsystem and finally from the Velvet Undergound to the Dandy Warhols.
After his collaboration to the «mid-footage film» « Bed & Breakfast » (with Ellen Feiss, directed by Loïc Moreau, Martin Beilby in 2006), Thomas, also attracted by experimental images and multimedia, joins Karina for the JUNK FOOD project.

Soon attracted by Fine Arts, Karina used to attend drawing evening classes which initiated her to different techniques : drawing, ink, collage, pastels, painting… In 2006, tikled by multimedia arts but scared by computers at the same time, Karina grins and bears it and decides to attend veejaying introduction classes made by Laurent Carlier (Vision’R). That’s where she meets Claire Fristot aka a-li-ce who invites her to join the Homemade collective. Once familiar with computers’ softwares, she was able to integrate plastic and manual techniques (collage, drawing, theater, puppets) to her work. She tries to express her quest for identity and space-time basis in an unstable world. She decides to collaborate with Thomas on the JUNK FOOD project in order to see how she can confront her experiences and her sensitivity with Thomas’s point of view.

Biography
A-li-ce is born in 1981. Graduated from Fine Arts School and EHESS with a master 2 about video art history, she works from 2004 as a videomaker and a graphical designer for differents theater companies.
She starts to perform as a vj with musicians in 2005, and mixes a lot for dubstep events since 2008.
She likes to experiment different ways of mixing live video, using different technics to prepare her visuals, as animation papers or drawings, but also rough footages mixing without any effects, into funny projects or more experimental ones.
From wonderland to reality, her visual world is composed of strange and colored pictures, also including documentary process for some of her projects.
She often collaborates with other artists, trying to get connections between them and the public during their live performances.
She also creates video installations and short movies and is involved into the collective live art group Homemade since its fundation. She is also a part of Sweatlodge Collective and of :NÄ: her very new collaboration with the musician/ composer / drawer Mectoob.

BIOGRAPHY:
Aude François aka Auderoseselavy is a versatile and creative artist, who explores video, performance installation and drawing.
Now working between Berlin and Paris, she performs as a VJ in different clubs and venues ; she studied Fine Art in Bologna (Italy) before moving to Paris to study new media.
In collaboration with various musicians working on electronic, experimental and acoustic music, Aude is currently preparing several video projects exploring the connections between video, music and performance.
As a member of Homemade and Microtruc collectives, she continuously participates to several collaborative projects linking new media, new technologies and moving images.
She regularly presents her work on occasion of international festivals around live video and performance.

Raquel Meyers (Cartagena, 1977) is a Spanish video artist, often using low-res graphics to create surreal imagery and eerie atmospheres. She has made video clips and VJ sets for many of the more prominent 8-bit musicians (Glomag, Bubblyfish, Goto80) and also worked with electro and noise acts such as Rubeck and Tubular Balls. Meyers was formerly part of Entter, and has worked with print design, installations, and websites. She is perhaps one of the more consistent pixel artists, although she is currently exploring other expressions to create confusion and delight.

HOMEMADE collective lies within a interdisciplinary and collaborative approach. It’s organized around artistic performances which contributors and ways of game evolve following time and space of action. Performers’ body movements and tools they use are intentionally visible. They are part of the performance which makes the audience commit into the creative process.

During 3 weeks, A-li-ce, André, Auderoseselavy, Céline, Karina, Thomas, Lucie, Lucile, Domi and special guest Raquel Meyers will get together and developp audiovisual collaboration…
This blog starts with the process of the residency we decided to document, with foto, video and writtings, like a kind of diary.
The place of the residency is called MAKI and is based inside huge spaces of an old factory which will be our video playground for those few weeks…
They will perform on the 16th and 17th of october.
